Today afternoon, we commissioned Diesel Standby generators at the Convention Centre. There are three such generators of capacity 1,500 KW, 1,500 KW and 1,000 KW. These can replace the entire electrical load of the Convention Centre and the 100 key hotel, automatically, within 30 seconds. The massive Diesel Generators are housed in a separate building and if running have to be fed about 500 litres of diesel in an hour. However, I told MD NTESCL, who was also present, to ensure two inpu circuits through a ring main system so that the probability of a power failure is minimised.
I also took a round of the Convention Centre site with Chief Engineer Hidco and engineers of L&T and surveyed the progress. I could see work happening on multiple fronts at good speed but I reminded the engineers that we have an internal target of July 2017 for commissioning of the Convention Centre
