| Second Boimela of New Town inaugurated 5 March 2016 |
The second Boi Mela of New Town was inaugurated a while ago at the Clock Tower Plaza today. Retd Justice Chittatosh Mukherjee, VC Amity Dhrubajyoti Chatterjee, Prof Baridbaran Ghosh, Basudeb Mosel, Pankaj Saha, Anup Motilal and CEO NKDA Debapriya Biswas were present. I recalled that Basanta Utsav is going on now, Pous Utsav was held earlier,Basanta Utsav will be held on 23 March Doljatra Day, New Town Mela was organised in December last while free weekend Yoga Classes every weekend and Sunday Theatres at Rabindra Tirtha along with 4 shows daily in Najrul Tirtha are trying to breathe in life in New Town. To add to this, I mentioned during the opening ceremony that from next year the New Town Boi Mela should try to identify itself as a venue for Kolkata Kobita Fest (I narrated the success of Jaipur Literary Festival within a short time), a Fest or Utsav that would make the New Town Boi Mela synonymous with poetry and poem throughout Kolkata, Bengal, Bangladesh, North East India and then whole of India. I requested Shri Pankaj Saha to chair an Organising Committe and he agreed to it.
