Indira Bhavan with UD

Yesterday the possession of Indira Bhavan was returned back yo the Urban Development Department. Here is a story that had appeared few days ago in Times of India.

We are actively considering few alternative uses. One of these is office cum guest house. But no decision has been taken as yet.

I recently submitted my resignations from the Boards of five Joint Venture Companies of KMDA where I was either the Chairman or Director. I have cited that I was unable to devote adequate time and attention to the functioning of these JVCs. A part of the unstated reason related to the AMRI incident: you are responsible for anything bad as well if you are on the board.

  2. Sad to see the conflict of interest between Mamata Banerjee and the TATA group. This certainly isn't in the best interest of West Bengal.
West Bengal badly needs good health care facilities; current ones are too much money oriented.

    I hope better sense prevails!

  4. Given the prevailing political history of last 3 years, conflict was inevitable - however, I also think this conflict is not good for Bengal and an mutual settlement with Tata (I am sure RT also will want this to get settled before he retires by next year) could send a big positive message to Industry. Question is who will blink first - may be SC ruling on Singur can be a trigger to bring both parties on table for an out of court settlement.
However, I do not think HIDCO decision is linked with that - it is coming out of a general policy decision of the new Govt. affecting many other companies as well - Tata happens to be one of them. I will stop my political commentary here, otherwise Mr. Sen will ban me from this blog, I guess!

  5. Yes, no political comments please. But just for the record:
The Board of Hidco has cancelled 50+ allotments that were made on the 28th Feb 2011 (Model Code of Conduct came into play from 1st March 2011) or during the period of MCC WITHOUT EXCEPTION.
