  2. Missing your posts! I guess either the workshop/case studies were very tiring or people's republic did not allow Google to function for people on their IPads-:)....BTW, while you were away few news items caught eyes:
    রোপওয়ে চড়ে গঙ্গা পারাপার!

    গঙ্গার সৌন্দর্যায়নে গুচ্ছ পরিকল্পনা - দিল্লির ধাঁচে কলকাতা হাট, কলকাতা আই (may move to Howrah-side due to MOD objection? – I think I have seen a Pratidin/Sakarbela article reg same - how long good projects be spiked!)

Can we think of the ropeway somehow connecting Botanical Garden at Howrah and Kolkata? This will encourage tourism at Botanical Garden that has international interests. May be a dream run on toy train from Kolkata eye spot along the Ganga river bank to reach opposite to B Garden at Kolkata and then tour BGarden and return on the evening on same route….
WikiMapia (http://wikimapia.org/#lat=22.56&lon=88.31&z=14&l=0&m=b) shows Ganga is narrowest where BGarden is located making it more feasible for ropeways. Also Ganga takes a nice turn opposite to Shalimar (refer same WikiMapia link) – so a toy train ride (at Kolkata side) could give a spectacular view of the river bank (at Howrah side) and make a necklace like look at night with lights.

Disclaimer: I do not stay or have any commercial interest or property at Howrah (!), however had spent golden 4 years of my student life near BGarden around 24 years back – hence might be these suggestions are biased by little nostalgia.

  3. Blogging and facebooking are PROHIBITED in China. So I couldn't make any posts while I was in China

  4. I suspected that. Really, things those we take for granted become so important when we do not get them. BTW, may be later, I will appreciate your attention on the wikimapia location and suggestion on the post above.

  5. @Avick> Just saw the Wikimapia link. Land on Howrah side river bank is a problem. We've engaged a consultant to see what can be done to beautify Howrah river front. But renovation of several ghats on Howrah side is already taking place.
