More than 50 entries participated in today's car rally at Eco Park. The event took place near Gate 1 of the Eco Park. There was a spirit of gaiety when I reached there at 10 am today morning. There were obstacle pillars laid at regular intervals and one had to drive without touching these drums, reverse once and plant a flag at the start point. The whole event took place with careful time keeping for each car. Each participant could do two laps and the best of the two was taken in. Here is a picture:

I inspected the subway that will be opened to traffic on the 8th October. It is almost ready. It is stated to be one of the largest subways with 10 entry-exits. Photo of one such:
Nice to see all these. Maybe, we could have our NewTown Festival in a particular month of the year going forward. And this suburb should also have its own flag and slogan (e.g. Chicago has 'We're Glad You're Here' slogan embossed flags all over its downtown).
ReplyDeleteIs this the subway that was coming up near 6th Rotary? I am so missing home (AA-IIC) and am so glad that NewTown is shaping up under your leadership. Kudos!
Slogan for a City is quite a new idea
DeleteI think for keeping an eye on the Eco-Park from above a Helium filled balloon will be more appropriate. Its less costly and can be in the air for much much longer time.
ReplyDeleteIs it possible to lay tram tracks from Rabindra Sadan to Tilkiapara ( one bifurcation to Santragachi Station) via second Hoogly bridge. As there is ample space on the side of the roads in this section right from Rabindra Sadan to Drainage canal road, trams would be able to run at a high speed.
