A Special Exhibition by the Mentally Challenged

Today, on behalf of NGO Turning Point, Ms. Ishita Sanyal, the founder secretary of Turning Point, met me at Hidco Bhavan and talked about the possibility of holding an exhibition of products made by mentally ill people. After a detailed discussion, I suggested that the hall in the new entry plaza of Eco Park could be used for the purpose. The idea was that products like stone jewelry etc made by the beneficiaries will be put out for sale. On site demonstration would also  also take place. We decided that the exhibition could be done jointly by Turning Point in collaboration with Hidco and that it could be held after the Pujas.

  1. Sir,
Question regarding schools - at present all the reputed schools are far away NewTown. Are there any plans to allocate land space for setting up schools (would love to see St. Xaviers, Heritage, La Marts etc open their 2nd campus at NewTown) in NewTown?

    Regards,
    Sowmik

  2. Please take a look at this:

A massive hawker eviction drive in DumDum Road.

I know HIDCO does hawker eviction in something like once in 6 months and they come back again. Cant we do it little more frequently in New Town and Nabadiganta?

If hawkers are not there, people will be forced to eat in the established shops and eateries. Our cash-strapped State Govt will get more sales tax for each day of hawker absence and obviously the place will also look good.
