Picnic Spot

Come winter, especially in December-January, and there erupts the clamour for picnic spots. Office goers and their families, college and school teachers, bankers and local clubs all want to do picnics. With this objective in view, we opened a pathway in Action Area 1D of New New Town adjacent to Upasana immersion ghat, on the opposite of Tree Bank, across the water body. There is already a pay-&-use toilet facility and we'll set up few kitchen sheds. For picnickers of Bengal.

  2. Sir,

Chk this link... This is from Pratidin.

I am glad that this initiative is being taken. However, I would like to suggest a view things.

Instead of issuing multiple smart cards, rather integrate it with Kolkata Metro.

I believe you are already a member of KMRC as well. I understand that these are organisations under different govt.s all together but when an agency is being mooted to operate, why not try this?
This will help increase ridership in all the modes. They can also be started on trams and taxis as well.

Also, I believe recharge options should also be explored on mobile apps compliant to ios, android, windows, blackberry, symbian and bada operating system as well.
Recharge options can also be explored at departmental stores with large pvt. bodies like, Big Bazar, Spencers, Reliance Fresh, etc. as well as Govt. owned Samabayika Stores.
    Kindly do the needful.

    1. Dear Sir,

I second Aritra's great suggestions above. We really need an integrated transport system with unified fare collection - which is the norm in developed nations. A great example in this regard is the ORCA card used in the Seattle metro area in the USA. www.orcacard.com.
This one card can be used on buses run by 5-6 different agencies, commuter trains, light rail as well as ferries !

To popularize such cards, as well as public transit in general, there should be options for free or discounted transfers between metro and feeder buses. Also, for regular users / commuters, unlimited use monthly passes can be issued.

      Thanks,
      Sudipta.

  3. Sir,
Good luck with the finance hub! It is a very difficult task but I am sure you would succeed.

A small feedback. I have browsed through the micro-site for the finance hub and it is very amateurish. The contents and layout need overhaul. For example, have a look at the NY state website to promote business - http://www.thenewny.com/

You would see how professional it looks compared to us. You would also notice that this website is designed differently for mobile users. This is something you need to do as well - mobile computing is the current buzz. People; especially corporates don't always use computers to browse.

Even the website/microsite of Eco Park doesn't create much of an impression. Have a look at the website of a similar park http://greatparks.org/parks/sharon-woods - you would understand the difference.

I believe that involving local web site design firms isn't the right prescription for this problem. You need to think big and global; if you want to bring the world to your doorsteps. Hire a MNC consultant; IT is not WB government's forte; have them do it for you.

Websites form the first impression - you sure wouldn't want to lose on this one. We are proud of you and am sure that you would succeed big time! Just wanted to add my two cents to this discussion; hoping that it would add some value.

    Regards,
    Sowmik

    1. Dear Sir,

Thanks for the link.. I agree with Sowmik - this website does not do justice to the grand Eco Park ! It should have it's own website - professionally designed that should be visually appealing as well as updated on a regular basis. For example - it still lists the new entrance plaza as "upcoming".. and there is no information on entrance ticket prices, annual membership options for morning walkers etc.

Here is another good example of a website for state run parks -

      Regards,
      Sudipta.
