Karunamoyee Bus Terminus

Last week, MLA Bidhannagar Shri Sujit Bose had a discussion with me as we waited for the UD Budget to be passed at the Assembly house about repairs to Karunamoyee Bus Stand. I informed him that engineers of UD Department had already upgraded the very busy and important bus terminus very meticulously over several months. They have concrete-paved the entire floor - a huge area, and there is no mud / slush now during rains in the terminus - put high mast lights for bright illumination, renovated the toilets and side utility structures with a fresh coat of paint and also repaired all bus bay islands within. We agreed that we could undertake a further joint site visit with engineers so as to consider what further needs to be done.

  1. Sir about the bus terminus, both Karunamoyee and Santraganchi need Bus Shelters for waiting passengers in queue. Some seats for the elderly too can be a welcome addition. Apart from these passenger amenities like Treated Drinking Water, Adequate Tiolet Facilities too should be added.

  2. The 70's design of Karunamoyee bus terminus is not pedestrian-friendly and should be totally redesigned. Passengers should not have to cross bus traffic to get to bus bay islands. Instead, they should be able to wait under shelter in a common platform like area where buses will come to pick them up (from designated pre-assigned locations)

    1. I agree with KalynaShankar. If KMOMA and International convention Centre is still dilly-dallying about starting their work, lets get it back from them and let HIDCO earmark it for Finance Hub or for hi-tech zone ( Many software R&D Companies can come if they get land).

We have been hearing various stories from them in last 6-7 years.
National School of Drama is also asking for land.

  5. Sir,

8th June was the last date for EOI for allotment of HIDCO Land for Finace and Legal Hub. Do we have some good news?
