Zip, zap, zoom on Rajarhat connector
ReplyDeleteSuman Chakraborti,TNN | Apr 29, 2013, 05.45 AM IST, Times of India, KOLKATA:
Keeping in mind the increasing traffic flow from the Science City junction to Rajarhat New Town, Hidco has come up with a plan to set up a 5.5-km partly elevated four-lane corridor to connect EM Bypass with Rajarhat New Town. The corridor will originate from somewhere around Dhapa dumping ground and terminate near the Hidco Bhavan on Action Area 1D, shortening the distance to about 7-8 km.
Hidco chairman-cum-managing director Debashis Sen said that the plan was in a preliminary stage. "Expressions of interests have been invited to engage a reputed consulting firm to prepare a detail project report (DPR) for the proposed elevated corridor that will start from EM Bypass near the Parama Island junction and will terminate at Rajarhat New Town's Action Area 1D near Hidco Bhavan," he said. It will be decided later as to how the project could be funded - whether to take loans or seek central government assistance.
Dear Mr. Sen,
The idea of this flyover was mooted more than 2 years back.
What is the status of this project.
It can be a real boon for people moving from science city to rajarhat/airport/it sez.
Since it would have been developed in a area where there is no construction/building it could be built in a very short span of time.
Someone like L&T who had built VIP flyover can just make it majestic and meet the deadline too.
Kindly reply,
Regards,
Sanjeev
