At a ceremony today morning, the Transport Department flagged off from Salt Lake Sector V, near Technopolis Building, a number of AC Buses that will connect the IT Hubs of New Town and Nabadiganta. Unitech-Joka (Route MB-7) new Bus Service would also start from today. A photo:

Here is a clipping from today's Khabar 365 on the Solar Energy Eco Park New Town:
Sir,
ReplyDeleteWould further like to add that from May 14, 2013, the WBSTC has started AC bus service from Science City to Kolkata IT Park (adjacent to Calcutta Leather Complex). The support provided by the Transport Dept., especially by WBSTC is indeed remarkable. With the PWD doing an outstanding job on fixing and widening the Basanti Highway, the starting of the bus service is an icing on the cake. The support shown by the Govt. is indeed worthy of the highest appreciation. The bus service is a major hit with the IT employees at Kolkata IT Park.

My sincere request to extend bus service to Aquatica park via newtown. A stretch of only 1 km from Green Field Heights / Alaka Abasan to this park remain disconnected although this can serve 2 villages, a park and >500 families staying in new community nearby. It takes an hour to reach unitech it park instead of 10 min just because of this stretch without any bus/auto service. Kindly look into this. Thanks.

ReplyDeleteBoth the news are really nice. We really need much more public transport on road. Also solar power planning in Eco Park is a very positive news. We should also plan solar power plant in Rabindra Tirtha.
ReplyDeleteAlso only giving rebate in property tax will not be alluring enough for residents in apartment complex in New Town or Salt Lake. They should be able to get some money from WBSEDCL in case they transfer surplus power to the grid .
Solar Power installations in buildings and canals in New town should be able to generate at least 500 MW+ power ( This is a guess and not based on estimate) and that can be supplied to the grid reducing dependency on the pollution creating thermal power thus saving foreign exchange reserve for imported coal. Also solar power installation and planning can create a lot of jobs.
A report on how Tamil Nadu is striding ahead in solar power.

We had a discussion today with a team from BESU on generating Solar Power by installing panels on a canal near Eco Park. They will make a DPR
DeleteFantastic Sir !!! Just too good. This is the step that was required. We need to extend this for the other canals in New Town...
DeleteSir, what I feel is we need to highlight another thing.
ReplyDeleteEco Park must be generating a substantial number of employment including ticket counters, employees in restaurants and cafes and in the different recreational activities. We should highlight this.
Nowadays due to mechanisation, large scale factories also involve direct employment of very less people in the range of 1 person / acre of factory land.
Went through these 2 tenders in HIDCO website. One for underpass near DLF IT Park in AA1 and another for hwaker rehabilitation in AA3 near SP Mass housing.
ReplyDeleteBoth are really good pieces of news. Thanks Sir. !!!
We should start work for the Chinar Park underpass as well.

DeleteBoth are very good moves for safety and cleanliness of our city. I feel we also need to have a drive for awarenes for using underpass.
DeleteOnly awareness will not serve the purpose. We need to have a system of strict penalty like in developed countries.
DeleteAlso it will be great if we can have escalators inside the underpasses. That will help that to become more popular.
