Tennis Court
A tennis court is being constructed in Action Area I, with inputs from NKDA's Sports Consultant. I went to see its progress recently. Here is a picture of the site:
There is already a football ground that is being used regularly: we even organised a Rugby match there. A cricket ground is being developed in Action Area II and we hope to start a match before the Pujas. A swimming pool is also coming up in AA-I but t will take some time to complete.

Its good to see sports grounds also coming up in the newtown area. Being a cricket fan where is this Cricket ground exactly and what size is it. Can we have pic of it as well alongside artists impression how it would look like

ReplyDeleteAfter almost two decades that I have been here, its for first time that over last year or so I am seeing some visible signs of kolkata changing for the better
The way Mamta di (along with her able team of professionals like you, Mr. Hakim), had been spearheading the beautification drive, infrastructure development, providing friendly environment for the industrialists. Its just heartening and people all around whom i meet today have been praising this welcoming change.
With the kind of legacy of over 2 lakh crore debt obligation that this govt had inherited it makes the the effort all the more appreciative.
Last two days in which Mamta di had taken initiative to help out the students is just exemplary.
This govt has also started setting dead lines to ensure timely completion of projects.
I would just request if we can through some light on the updated status of the following projects.
1. New Garia Airport Metro
2. Park Circus Flyover
3. Zip Zap Zoom Flyover from Parama Island to Hudco Office (has it moved a bit)
4. Rajarhat Road has the repair work started and when is it exp to complete is there any proposal of widening it.

কলকাতা ঢোকার অন্যতম প্রবেশপথ নিউ টাউনে এ বার তৈরি হতে চলেছে ‘আইকনিক ওয়েলকাম টাওয়ার’। পঞ্চপ্রদীপের আদলে তৈরি এই টাওয়ার শহরে ঢোকার মুখে পর্যটক এবং অতিথিদের স্বাগত জানাবে। সম্প্রতি হিডকোর বোর্ড মিটিংয়ে সিদ্ধান্ত হয়েছে, লোকসভা ভোট মিটে গেলেই এই আইকনিক টাওয়ার তৈরির কাজ শুরু হবে। হিডকো সূত্রে খবর, খুব শীঘ্রই দরপত্র ডাকার কাজ শুরু হবে। এক বছরের মধ্যেই টাওয়ার তৈরি হয়ে যাবে বলে দাবি করেছে হিডকো।
সংস্থার চেয়ারম্যান দেবাশিস সেন জানিয়েছেন, নিউ টাউন রোডে আকাঙ্খার মোড়ের কাছে তৈরি করা হবে এই টাওয়ার। বিমানবন্দর থেকে কলকাতা ঢোকার জন্য ভি আই পি রোডের পাশাপাশি নিউ টাউন রোডকে ব্যবহার করা হয়। বিশেষত শহরে বিদেশি অতিথি বা পর্যটকেরা এলে যানজট এড়াতে বেশি ব্যবহার হয় নিউ টাউন রোডই। আবার, ওই রাস্তার ঠিক পাশেই মেট্রো রেলের লাইন তৈরির কাজ চলছে। ফলে আগামী কয়েক বছরের মধ্যে এই রাস্তা শহরে প্রবেশের ক্ষেত্রে অন্যতম গুরুত্বপূর্ণ রাস্তা হতে যাচ্ছে। সেই কথা বিবেচনা করেই নিউ টাউন রোডে এই টাওয়ার তৈরির সিদ্ধান্ত নিয়েছে হিডকো।
শিল্পীর কল্পনায় সেই টাওয়ার।
হিডকো সূত্রে খবর, ৪৮ টন ইস্পাত দিয়ে তৈরি হচ্ছে এই টাওয়ার। উচ্চতা হবে ১৫ মিটার। বিভিন্ন উচ্চতায় থাকবে পাঁচটি প্রদীপ। আকাঙ্খার মোড়টি পাঁচমাথা মোড়। এই পাঁচমাথা মোড়ের মাঝে রয়েছে কিছুটা সবুজ জায়গা। তার উপরে ছোট্ট টিলা তৈরি করে বসানো হবে এই টাওয়ার। টিলার চারপাশে থাকবে নানা ফুলের গাছ।
ইতিমধ্যেই আকাঙ্খা মোড়ে তৈরি হয়েছে বেশ কয়েকটি সাবওয়ে। রাস্তা পেরোতে হলে এখন সেই সাবওয়ে ব্যবহার করতে হয়। ফলে সাধারণ মানুষ কোনওভাবেই ওই টিলার আশেপাশে যেতে পারবেন না। দেবাশিসবাবু জানান, আকাঙ্খার মোড়ে এই টাওয়ার তৈরির পরিকল্পনা আগে থেকেই ছিল। সে ভাবেই ওই সাবওয়েগুলি তৈরি হয়েছে। তিনি আরও জানান, এ ব্যাপারে ইতিমধ্যেই মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়ের সঙ্গে কথা হয়েছে। তিনি ওই টাওয়ার তৈরিতে সম্মতি দিয়েছেন। টাওয়ারটি যেখানে তৈরি হবে, সেখান থেকে ঢিল ছোড়া দূরত্বে সবুজে মোড়া ইকো পার্ক বা প্রকৃত তীর্থ। একটু দূরে রবীন্দ্র তীর্থ। ফলে প্রথম দর্শনেই কলকাতা সম্পর্কে পর্যটকদের ভাল লাগা তৈরি হবে বলে দাবি হিডকোর।
দেবাশিসবাবু বলেন, “এই টাওয়ার তৈরির দায়িত্ব দেওয়া হয়েছে বিশিষ্ট স্থপতি প্রবীর মিত্রকে। শহরে ঢোকার মুখে এই পঞ্চপ্রদীপ দেখে অতিথিদের মনে হবে তাঁদের যেন বরণ করে নিল কলকাতা। হাওড়া সেতু যেমন পর্যটকদের কাছে অন্যতম দর্শনীয় স্থান, তেমনই এই টাওয়ারটিও শহরের একটি দ্রষ্টব্য হতে চলেছে।”
মঙ্গলবার বিকেলে আগরতলা থেকে ফিরে শহরে ঢোকার পথে ইকো পার্কে যান মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়। পার্কের নিরাপত্তা বাড়াতে বিভিন্ন জায়গায় সিসিটিভি বসানোর জন্য বিধাননগর কমিশনারেটের কর্তাদের নির্দেশ দেন।
