With Manna De...

I went to Asansol yesterday. Among other things, I went to the studio of Artist Susanta Roy who is making wax statues on behalf of Hidco. Some models are ready, some are in preparation. We discussed timelines and targets. I reminded him that we have selected an architect for the wax museum and invited EOI for an agency to build it. Like Madam Tussads' Museum in London that I'd visited with Minister Firhad Hakim in 2012, I couldn't resist the temptation of getting myself photographed with a wax statue of Manna De. Even when I was close, the wax statue looked strikingly alive.

I also inspected the progress of 10 mgd water supply project at Asansol. Sumit Gupta, CEO ADDA informed me that it will be completed by this March. A photo:

  1. Wax statue looking great.
What is the projected timeline for completion of the 3rd bagzola bridge? I assume that one to replace Iron bridge towards Kepple/DLF projects?

  3. Its a good thing to know that waste to energy scheme is being taken up by the KMC. I think the Eco-Park should also have small plant like this which will use its own garbage to make energy. It will be a good project for children to see.

    1. There is a minimum critical mass - usually several tons a day - of high organic waste that is required for a waste-to-energy plant. Instead, at Eco Park, I am planning to raise an awareness campaign "Take Back Your Waste" so that nobody leaves his litter behind at the Park.

  4. I and my wife are regular readers of your posts. Having purchased an apartment at Action Area II, we are very thankful to you for taking up a number of projects which would be very useful to us and other future residents of New Town.

We would like to request you for a regular police station at Action Area II. We have purchased an apartment in Malancha (developed by Bengal DCL). However most of the apartment owners have not been able to take up interior decoration of their apartments as the local Syndicate are not allowing any outside contractor to take up jobs like painting, interior decoration, fixing of lighting fixtures etc. They are demanding that all such jobs should be awarded to them only, at exorbitant prices, and quality of their workmanship is very poor.

Developer of the project have raised their hands and are unable to help.

    Regards,

    R K Mitra

  5. It is indeed a very scary and dangerous situation. I have heard these concerns raised in this forum before and it seems that there is no change to the situation. As someone who owns a plot in AA II and contemplating to start building soon, I am fearful of the havoc that these elements can create, and also of the inability of the law enforcement to rein in these people. How are ordinary, peaceful people to cope with this menace ? Any suggestions ?
