Water Bottling Plant in New Town

Yesterday, I inspected works of water supply, drainage and sewerage in New Town. Chief Engineer and other officers of PHED were present. We decided that one drainage pumping station at Central Business District (CBD) should be completed before the monsoons. Here is a photo of the site now:

We also decided to set up a Bottled Water Plant at the site of Water Treatment Plant in Action Area 1. This will provide a constant source of cheaper water for tourists at Eco Park, Rabindra Tirtha and elsewhere.

National Insurance Company Chairman will come to New Town tomorrow (19th) to lay the foundation stone of their project at the Financial Hub in New Town. I got their invitation yesterday. Here is it:

  1. Water Bottling plant is quite innovative move.
Also good to know that another building (company) is setting up in Financial Hub but fast tracking of these projects are needed.

  2. Great to hear about the Finance Hub! Finally your hard work is paying off - we would be so glad to see New Town prosper. The owls are a great idea too! Normally tourists gather around the NY bull to take photos.. so it would be great if you have another massive (real massiver; bigger than the current one but in a park or something) owl structure erected somewhere where tourists visiting NewTown in future could come over and take photos.

We will soon have another installation in entrance to Finance Hub: and not necessarily an Owl

  4. Mr Sen,
The effort that you take to update your blog almost daily is absolutely sensational. Your blog is the first thing I see every morning, and you do not disappoint.
I only wish the NKDA and WBHIDCO website could follow your example and do the same.
It would also be good if we could see status updates of all the new and announced projects like, (the swimming pool, Nazrul and Bhagat Singh Bhawan, Convention Centre, Markets, new Parks, roads, etc.)
Also it might help to put all tenders and notices etc and option to download forms for bank challans, lottery for shops etc. in the website

It would also be great if Google Earth and Google maps is updated frequently with all the landmarks (proposed, finished and under completion). This would enable us to know exactly where something is located. As an example, I was trying to find the exact location of the Cricket Stadium in AA-II, but could not find it. Some street numbers are there, and some landmarks, but they can be more comprehensive.
