Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee visits Eco Park

Yesterday, Hon'ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee made an unscheduled inspection of the Eco Park in New Town Kolkata. She was on her way to the airport en-route Delhi. Minister Firhad Hakim was accompanying her in the vehicle. I explained our plans for the inauguration on 29th December. She enquired about Banglar Haat, Singing Fountains, Children's Park and Ethnic Centre on island etc. I mentioned that all of these were in various stages of planning & implementation. She also visited Hidco Bhavan - her first time - and the adjoining Rabindra Tirtha. Here is a picture of her visit to Eco Park:

  1. Dear Sir,

Many thanks for your good thinking and unmatched efforts towards NewTown.

Please save our New Town from hawkers and dirt and filth asap before all your efforts of building a modern city goes into vain. Please see the pictures in the below link. Seems like we are in some suburban village. Also the cleaners who are appointed to clean the road are simply shifting the dirt from one place to another, aren't they trained enought how to collect it and remove?

    1. Very good point Debdeep.

Sir, the pictures are really eye-openers. Can we quickly wrap up the food court work and stop the hawker menace?

Also can we get the New Town roads washed regularly rather than just brooming and complete the land acquisition work near the village on EW mar and get the road widened.

Glad that we are completing the vocational college work. Hope we can target these hawkers and get at least 1 member of their families trained in some alternate profession.

It was heartening to know that Digha-Mandarmani road proposal is NOT dropped till now. It will be great if we can complete the formalities for the deer park.

Also thanks again for thinking about the HIDCO website augmentation work. I am yet to take a look at the RFP. Will take a look and comment soon.

However the GIFT ( Ahmedabad) site can act as a starting point for the financial hub project. We need to make it much better.
